Review of The Shawshank Redemption (1994) by Israel C — 12 Sep 2014
The Shawshank Redemption has gone down in history as one of the greatest films of all time. This American Classic has one of the best and organic character development in any picture I've ever seen.
You'd think this kind of character development can only happen in tv shows where you follow these people for seasons at a time, but not Shawshank... We follow these Andy for 19 years and it feels like we were with him for that long.
Not that the movie was a drag by any means, however you felt the heaviness the protagonist felt of being incarcerated. No other movie has ever captured the reality of prison so well like this one. I don't want to ruin it for those who haven't seen it (I mean if you haven't, what are you doing?) but go see it.
My favorite movie of all time hands down.
