Review of The Shawshank Redemption (1994) by Tatsuhito K — 15 Dec 2015
A wonderful film that will have its place in the hearts and minds of Americans for ages to come, Shawshank is one of the best films for everyone. The main focus is a prisoner portrayed by Tim Robbins, but the best performances here are by Morgan Freeman and Bob Gunton.
Freeman steals every scene in every movie that he is in, but this film shows how talented he really can be when given a large role like this one. Gunton plays a Bible-thumping, corrupt prison warden and does it well.
The plot is predictable but is a classic story of redemption and the perseverance of justice. Highly recommended to all.
