Review of The Shawshank Redemption (1994) by Alec C — 04 Mar 2017
This movie, like many movies today, shows us what it can be like to hit rock bottom in life, whether it is on account of misfortune, being corrupted, and being mistreated. However, unlike most movies of today, it shows us that there is still a light at the end of the tunnel, which is hope.
In this movie, Andy enters the prison and is subject to solitary confinement, harassment, assault, condemnment, and about a million other things, but the only thing that keeps him going is hope and the goal to one day end up on a beach in Mexico, no matter how distant that aspiration is in his current situation.
When we observe this, it gives us motivation to keep going as well, not because he escaped eventually, but because others told him the impossibility and consequence of escape and he endured the largest degree of adversity, and still escaped.
Now we know that anything is possible if we have the smarts and motivation to achieve it. 5/5.
