A film full of classic characters, witty dialogue and an constant underlying feeling of hope. Told mostly through the clever and intriguing narration of Morgan Freeman's Red and the perspective of Tim Robbins' Andy, The Shawshank Redemption takes you through a 19 year long jail sentence and makes you feel like you're experiencing it all right alongside Andy, Red and the other inmates.

The contrasting tone of the hardship and hopeless of prison and the levity and hope of the inmates makes for a beautiful and heartfelt film which explores the mind of someone who must accept life without freedom for an unbelievable length of time in which you watch them transform slowly into a part of their new reality.
