Review of The Shape of Water (2017) by Nadjib R — 03 Feb 2018

So how should I put this, The Shape of Water is extremely hard to explain not due intercity of its story but the overwhelming emotions that can not be explained, it can only be felt, the story itself is profoundly moving and touching, although I find myself obligated to admit that I wasn't that amazed by it but I believe it had something special from its beautiful cinematography to the simplistic yet convincing acting by Shannon and especially Hawkins who manged to render a moving performance without saying a single word yet it was so gripping, Desplate's music was so magical and enchanting and it gives the film a charming vibe to it, and now for the directing, Del Toro spared us none of his talents and it is obvious to see, although it wasn't as powerful as I wanted it to be but I believe he manged to put on a good effort that is certainly worth parsing despite the fact that it could have been much better, I won't label it as amazing but I certainly think it's good.
