Review of The Shape of Water (2017) by Emanuele C — 12 Mar 2018
"The Shape of the Water" is an lovely movie which tells the love story between a mute woman and a "weird" water creature. I think Del Toro shows, once again, all his talent, directing a simple yet poignant movie. I have loved the characters who take part to the story: both Octavia Spencer and Nick Searcy are amazing in their supporting roles. The star, of course, is the unbelievable Sally Hawkins, who's able to portray the mute main character with such a class that's impossible not to fall in love with her.
Cinematography and the score are as great as you would expect from a Del Toro's movie. I firmly believe that "The Shape of the Water" is by far one of the most interesting movies done in these last 5 years.
