It pulls you back to a time with a time machine direction into a gritty, wet, cold war time that is so true it somehow brings the strange fictional "monster" legitimacy. Sally Hawkins and Micheal Shannon performances were Oscar worthy.
How the director, Del Toto brings this plot to reality seems impossible, yet you are pulled into a reality you dont want to escape from.. One of the BEST films of the year!
