Review of The Shape of Water (2017) by Rich H — 11 Mar 2018
Guillermo del toro's best picture film shows that love has no boundaries. A unique approach to such a film as the main character is mute. The film is beautifully crafted and keeps the audience on its toes as the ending brings the whole film full circle.
The film has a dark and eerie overarching mood and theme similar to Guillermo's other film series "Hell boy". Some could even go as far as calling this film a prequel to "Hell Boy" as this could be a backstory for the "hell boy" character Abe Sapien.
With the overall mixture of beatuy and darkness is a no brainer why this was nominated for an academy award.
