Review of The Shape of Things (2003) by Stephen M — 08 Oct 2007
Most of LaBute's films leave me with that aggrivated feeling, one that makes me want to change myself for the better, so I don't end up like any one of the characters he's created. And I love his movies because of that.
This film, however, leaves that aggrivated, infuriated even, feeling but with no sense of change to be had. Originally a play, I can see it working very well on that medium, but on film it comes off a little stiff.
Paul Rudd and Rachel Weisz are both very good, and are really what holds the movie together. A decent picture at best, that's challenging in its own right.
