Review of The Shape of Things (2003) by Helen S — 19 Aug 2008
I liked how there was only 4 characters carrying this story along. But sadly, it felt like a filmed play, rather than a movie. It WAS a play prior to this, but still -- the transition to screen could be more convincing.
Rachel Weisz is amazing as the creeper Evelyn. The guy who plays the Male Friend... I don't like his acting. He comes across as too smarmy and fake. Paul Rudd and Gretchen Mol were great, though at times it felt like they were speaking "dialogue" rather than natural talking.
The ending, while satisfying, feels like something is missing...
