Review of The Shape of Things (2003) by Angie P — 25 Dec 2009
"The Shape of Things" is a typically tedious movie about a romantic relationship, repeating far too many clichés and platitudes of the unfortunate genre of romantic drama/comedy. When you reach the end of the flick it works a lot better as a whole, but this doesn't quite make up for the too long journey it took the viewer to get there.
Rudd and especially Weisz try hard, and this is a good attempt at making this kind of a film in a fresh way, at least trying to say something deeper and smarter than one can usually expect. I would even dare say this one is woth checking out. But just barely.
