Review of The Shaggy Dog (2006) by Karen S — 10 Jan 2012
I tend to avoid bad movies. If only I hadn't fallen for the deception that this would be a humorous movie, but then again, this was before I realized that almost all Disney live action-videos are not even worth renting. So...here goes.
Tim Allen is a terrible choice for lead actor. He couldn't save the movie by any stretch of the imagination, and there is no appeal for any age group. His films are typically geared towards adults (excepting Toy Story), but the movie has the dialogue of a four year old. The villains are annoying and not the least bit menacing. (I've already forgotten every character's name.) Once again, there is practically no plot, and the whole attempt at genetically cloned animal hybrids is just plain cheesy. The movie even goes to the extent of recycling Allen's famous Buzz Light Year line to generate laughs, but sadly, it was probably the highlight of the movie.
I cannot recommend this movie by any stretch of the imagination; I'm surprised I even remembered watching it.
