Review of The Seven Year Itch (1955) by The Tenth Muse — 09 Jan 2009
I honestly thought this would be better, but then again, Marilyn Monroe wasn't noted for her acting prowess. This is based on a play, which means that it's very dialogue-driven, more so than I expected.
The whole subway-dress scene is also somewhat disappointing, as you only see two separate shots: one of her legs with the skirt going up, and another of her from the waist up, with the skirt flying. They probably weren't even her legs! Anyway, it's just a silly comedy, and Some Like It Hot remains the best Marilyn Monroe movie there is.
