There are lots of things that work together to make a great movie.....cinematography, writing, acting. But one that is tougher to gauge is TONE. This movie succeeds so beautifully because it has an almost perfect tone.
It could have been mawkish or manipulative, it could have been "gay cowboys eating pudding" but instead it is a funny, sweetly sad, thought provoking story of a man trying to service a basic human need under the worst of circumstances.
And yes I'm in LOVE with John Hawkes, but my friend liked it too and she isn't so there!
