Undoubtedly a film of fantastic acting, The Sessions is frank and clinical in terms of sexuality but also rather blandly written, and the lack of balance in terms of female/male nudity is disappointingly conservative for what could otherwise have been a bold piece of indie cinema.
A frustrating viewing experience.
