Review of The Sessions (2012) by Dale S — 18 Feb 2013
A movie that largely went under the radar, The Sessions deserves all the "word of mouth" attention we can muster for this beautiful and exquisitely acted film. John Hawkes, William H. Macy and especially Helen Hunt each deliver Oscar caliber performances.
Yes, the subject matter is rather heavy and you will cry...but you will also laugh and your faith in life will be rejuvenated. The interwoven theme of religion throughout this film provides just a perfect contrast and symbolism.
While this is just a movie, many of our daily complaints should be put in perspective after watching Mark O'Brien's life. Thank you.
