It's confident, intentionally manipulativeless film-making relies purely on John Hawkes and Helen Hunt compassionate performances for all the drama, most noticeably the film is almost entirely without soundtrack.
It success is thus entirely due to the relationship captured between Mark O'Brien and his sex surrogate.
