Review of The September Issue (2009) by Matt L — 28 Aug 2009
After all the bad press about Anna Wintour (hilariously the fashion people call her "the most influential woman in the States"), it is all good to see things from another angle. And it's especially good that it's not a narcissistic point of view from some fashionistas - but a story through the eyes of mortals who are not in the fashion business (since one-sided story is really NOT documentary).
Though the documentary had set out to put Anna and the production of Sept US Vogue issue under the spotlight; it is amicable to NOT have the eccentric fashion characters as the one and only focus of the film. I love especially the parts where the adorable Grace Coddington (Creative Direction, US Vogue) is being shot, she's such strong aesthetic sense and humorous attitudes (against the "detached mode" and face that Anna Wintour has all the time) which makes fashion artsy and so much more interesting.
Where everybody had expected it to be a boring movie, it turned out just okay ;).
