Review of The September Issue (2009) by Amy H — 14 Sep 2009
Decent but not nearly as in-depth as I thought it would be. Yes, it's fun to see the inspiration for "The Devil Wears Prada" roll her eyes, pass judgement, and dismiss the hard work of others.
At the same time it doesn't go very deep beyond that. True, there are moments when the Ice Queen opens up a bit...but the real true enjoyment and interest of the doc lies with Grace Coddington. She's a former Vogue model and the creative director.
..and started the same day that Anna Wintour did. Her journey through the film is really what is most captivating and leaves a lasting impression. Whereas when Anna rolls her eyes it is the byproduct of haughtiness, Grace rolls her eyes out of years of exasperation.
There are some real wonderful moments between these two women. It's worth a rental if you are so inclined.
