Review of The September Issue (2009) by Erick S — 26 May 2010
While watching this documentary, it is hard not to compare Miranda Priestley (The Devil wear PRADA), with the iconic Anna Wintour. Ms.Wintour is a force to be reckoned not only in fashion but in all related fields.
Often described as perfectionist, elitist, shy, tyrannical, cold, aloof, harsh and so on, this film revolves not around the biggest issue of the magazine but around her immense persona. A few elements are quite remarkable like Wintourâ??s staunch aesthetic perfectionism and how it collides with the very talented visions of Vogueâ??s Creative Director Grace Coddington; the ever present agreement with everything Ms.
Wintour says from her staff; but also, I dare to say, a less seen side of her: the warmth she shows whenever sheâ??s with her daughter and curiously, the fact that even at this point in her life, Ms.
Wintour doesnâ??t acknowledge her own success when compared to her very successful siblings. This film wouldnâ??t be complete without the appearance of another fashion personality, André Leon Talley his sense of humor and personal sense of style.
