Review of The September Issue (2009) by Pamela W — 24 Feb 2010
In the area of fashion documentaries I have seen so much better. I would rather see Pret-A-Porter or the Yves St. Laurent documentary again if I had that 1 1/2 hrs. back.
This doc is filled with "posing" and the main subjects are very camera-conscious. You see a lot of "winking" and cutting off of statements in midstream, (before the cameras catch them saying something wrong with abrupt change in conversation).
Once you get over Anna Wintour's nice clothes and haircut, she is pretty ho-hum to watch otherwise. Maybe that's it all along! She has very little wit or personality and we mistake this for some sort of "Ice Queen" persona and made a Legend out of it.
