Review of The September Issue (2009) by Paul P — 12 Jun 2010
I know nothing about the fashion industry or fashion in general, I still wear baggy jeans, the horror. But 'The September Issue' worked for me. It works because the documentary doesn't fall in love with the fashion.
Its about how Vogue magazine balances chaos to release the September issue of its magazine. Anna Wintour is an amazing documentary subject. Watching people that are apparently high ranking in the business just cower at her feet like a dog is a trip.
And the most interesting piece is her relationship with former model and current Senior Editor of Vogue Grace Coddington. She's the only human in the documentary that occasionally stands her ground against Anna.
