Review of The September Issue (2009) by Jay N — 20 Aug 2010
A documentary that allows its subjects to be the ones judging their world and their work. It's a very particular world, and those who are put-off by that world are unlikely to change their opinions.
For those that see the art and industry of it, though, it's quite captivating. Even though Wintour has the power (and is all that people usually talk about), it's Coddington who wins you over with her creativity and commitment.
It also has a nice sprinkling of appropriately cool music (Ratatat, Of Montreal, etc). Recommended to those who see art in the folds of fabric and power in the production of image.
