Review of The Sentinel (2006) by Robert B — 24 Dec 2011
The Sentinel follows a rather standard "thriller storyline", there's a traitor in the Secret Service and Douglas is wrongly accused, he's on the run, trying to find out who the real traitor is.
The whole story was more or less predictable, though there were a few moments that kept you on the edge of your seat. As a thriller it's reasonably good, however it does not go down to any real personal level, nor does it give the audience any connection to the protagonists.
As I've written, it follows a standard story that's not really explored to a great extent, there are some well directed action sequences, the dialogue isn't bad. This film would have benefited with some more meaningful back-story surrounding the key events that are happening.
Overall, a generally decent thriller, it's ok to watch, Michael Douglas gives a good performance, but The Sentinel is not up there amongst the best thriller films I have seen.
