Review of The Sentinel (2006) by Sean S — 07 Dec 2007
I really wanted to enjoy this movie, but I just couldn't find anything exciting in it. The acting was what it needed to be but I can't help but wonder what some people were doing in the film. For example, Eva Longoria, can anybody honestly tell me what was her purpose in the film besides to stand around and look nice...with the occasional line or two and shooting. Thanks man the eye candy is appreciated but I think she deserves a little more you know.
The "suspense chase/action" scenes were mediocre at most. It brought nothing new to the genre and so many other films have been there and done that. In fact the most interesting set piece in the entire film for me was the tension between Sutherland and Douglas's characters about the whole wife thing, especially the whole thing with Basinger's character that came into play as well. It kept me gelled to watch the movie but then...surprise surprise, the filmmakers pull a lame one on me and the whole issue that was set up for about an hour is resolved in less than a minute...now suddenly everything's cool, let's go catch the bad guys...
Man I hate those, I watched the conclusion and switched of and forgot about it almost instantly.
Rent this on a Sunday afternoon to get the perfect snooze.
