Review of The Sentinel (2006) by Katie J — 29 Dec 2010
Not terrible, but I did have to attempt to keep myself awake during this one. For one thing, I was already pretty tired, and for another, I simply didn't see an underlying reason for the main conflict in this film to have even happened. That is to say, what seemed to be missing most from this movie was plot. Sure, an assassination attempt on the president. But why? The movie never really answers that question, which naturally makes watching it extremely frustrating.
I haven't seen much of Michael Douglas, but I don't like him already. Something about his voice, or his face, or something completely inconsequential on which I can't put my finger at the moment irks me (just like Nicolas Cage). And Eva Longoria's role was mostly minor, so I can't say much there.
Kiefer Sutherland, however, is always a welcome addition, especially when acting rough and tough and holding a gun. He was a bit moody here, but I suppose he is in real life, too. And even in 24. Okay, everywhere. But you still have to love the way he speaks and has his badass side as second nature due to frequently having to call on it for films.
6.7/10.
