GREAT As a lengthy marketing piece for the book!!!
While well acted, I've never before seen a film which succeeded in making me care a lot about the characters, and held my interest throughout, but leaving the theater feeling so empty, because there was so much missing, that you were unable to figure out the point of what you had just done for almost 2 hours,.
So much so, that I was compelled to buy the book and read it, just to see if I had fallen asleep, or if the movie left out so many critical details that Sherlock Holmes would have left scratching his head as well.
After reading the book ( which was outstanding and after the fact enlightening).
I realized that I indeed had been awake the entire time, and that they did neglect to include many of the pertinent details in the movie for anyone to get the gist of what was attempted to be conveyed.
So if you go to see this movie, please.
Read the book first.
