Review of The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising (2007) by Georgy W — 04 Jul 2008
I read this book by Susan Cooper when I was a kid and thoroughly enjoyed it. It had so much potential as a film it is a shame therefor that the director had to spoil it all by being a cheapskate and using some European village that looks nothing like the UK to pretend it is the UK!!!! It irritated me throughout the whole movie.
I know that using film sets and extras elsewhere is cheaper BUT you lose hell of a lot of the audience when they realise that this is odd! Best actor definately goes to Ian McShane non of the others come close.
Disappointing.
