I don't think they did a good job explaining what was going on. I think they expected us as the viewer to just accept that the old people are the the good guys that do nothing but walk around with weapons and there's this thing called the darkness, and it's bad.
Maybe I missed the part where they explained how everything came to be, but I sat through the whole thing so I don't see how that's possible. So-so plot, so-so acting, so-so movie. They set it up for a sequel but lets just hope they don't go through with it.
