An interesting political drama that demonstrates what can happen to the best of us when tempted by power and sex. Alan Alda gives an excellent performance as Senator Joe Tynan, seduced by politics (and Meryl Streep).
I love Streep as Karen Traynor, the southern belle who fuels Tynan's desires for power. Her subtle performance oozes both confidence and a sort of innocence, and is at times extremely funny. Its cast also includes Charles Kimbrough, perhaps better known for his role in one of my favourite TV shows, 'Murphy Brown'.
