Review of The Secret of NIMH (1982) by Michael K — 27 Jul 2009
The Secret of NIMH is a well-animated and striking film. It's one of those kids movies that some parents may think is a little too violent and scary for the younger crowd, but I didn't think it was all that bad.
.. just a swordfight where a little blood was shed. I think Mrs. Brisby is one of the greatest animated protagonists ever put to paper... most movies for kids center around child characters but this one centers around a mother.
It's kind of like a Disney movie except a bit more mature and no showtunes (although the score was surprisingly effective in this movie). Whether or not you saw this as a kid, it's definitely worth watching again.
