Review of The Secret of NIMH (1982) by Jeremy A — 28 Apr 2013
Correction to the original review, the rats were not part of a secret society, they were altered by NIMH, it's the acronym for the National Institute of Mental Health, and the premise of the book was that these rats were a product of their testing to enhance intelligence.
It's a very complex statement on animal testing and its potential repercussions (potentially positive AND extremely negative--although the overall gist was against animal testing, they weren't black and white about the debate as so many productions, particularly children's productions, are today.
The movie retained some of this, but overall delved into a far more fantasy / fairytale magical approach.
