Review of The Secret of NIMH (1982) by Brandon W — 24 Apr 2015
The Secret of NIMH is a masterpiece of animating that will always be Don Bluth's best film. The animation is really impressive and even does the small details which is really nice. The cast are great in this, and the heroine is very memorable.
Jeremy is basically a comic relief, but he does have some moments that are helpful and some funny moments to lighten the tone from being too dark. The action is great, and the message is nice to show to kids that might take influence from this.
The writing is really good, and the villain's sidekick is actually not your typical clumsy sidekick which is very refreshing to see from kids movies. Characters are good, and the villain is nice too, even if he's barely in it for some scenes.
I can see why The Secret of NIMH is one of Doug Walker's favorite films, and it's in the top ten for me as one of my favorite animation films, even kids films.
