Review of The Secret of NIMH (1982) by Daniel E — 24 Nov 2010
Operating beneath the front of childish simplicity this film puts on are two very interesting themes. When Nicodemus says to Mrs. Brisby, "My child, we can no longer live as rats. We know too much!" we realize the first of these themes: that moral compass is derived from knowledge and understanding of the self.
Second is the lesson that "courage of the heart," or courage in the face of fear, is the ultimate key to salvation. Overall this is not only an enjoyable and engrossing story, but one that will stay with you for life.
