Review of The Secret of My Success (1987) by Rocknblues 8 — 09 Dec 2009
Not very good I'm afraid. This is one of those dumb comedies that lacks interesting characters and doesn't have anything to say other than lie, cheat or steal your way to the top. Michael J. Fox doesn't do anything worthwhile, and the rest of the cast is completely despicable and self absorbed. If you have seen American Psycho you will notice that these are the same type of people that film satirizes.
As for the comedy, it's safe in a Leave It to Beaver way. Rarely does it leave it's comfort zone of old 50's style safe comedy. If you want to watch 80's comedies I would suggest sticking with Airplane or Ruthless People.
