By far the book is at least a hundred times better. I suggest if you have watched this movie you go and read the book, they literally went so far from the original plot that this could be seen as a stand alone.
The story is so overdone, the novel made a new adventure, a new story; but this movie is one of those films that takes it's plot from other movies and mashes it together.
