Review of The Secret of Kells (2009) by Sean M — 26 Oct 2010
I heard of this film recently, and with it came a great deal of acclaim. After watching it, I can safely say that it derserves it all and much more. This film is stunning!
Based on the history of the Book of Kells, this movie takes a fantasy-based look at the manyscript's origins. From the get go I am taken in by the visuals and music. I'm having trouble thinking of what to talk about for fear of spoiling plot points, as well as the fact that I'm at a loss trying to describe some of gorgeous visuals.
I highly recommend this film.
Seriously... That is my review for this. I loved this thing, and look forward to buying a copy. If you are an artist and/or storyteller, you absolutely need to see this. Even if you aren't, this is still a must-see.
If you have Netflix, this film is currently available in their "instant watch" selection. So, if you have an account there, there isn't any reason not to watch it right now!
Tomm Moore makes a spectacular debut with this film, and I find myself eagerly awaiting his next film "The Song of the Sea".
