Review of The Secret of Kells (2009) by Bill E — 30 Nov 2010
I'd read good things about this and that it was like an Irish Miyazaki, so I went in with high hopes and was seriously not disappointed. The story is seeped in both magic, religion & mythology.
Even though it isn't dense, it is a simple story well told. The animation is simply sublime, reminding me of the beauty of something like a stained glass window at times. The film throws many fantastical and fantastic imagery at you all the way through.
The music is a perfect match for the animation and story and the voice casting is spot on.
