Review of The Secret of Kells (2009) by C. B — 18 Feb 2011
While visually unparalleled to anything I've ever seen come out of Europe, the pacing is slow at times. This is a small qualm though, as the directing is superb, expressing broad ranges of emotion, both visually and narratively. Character development is standard for a coming-of-age story, but the small Celtic touches in each image evoke specific images that engulfs the character in their persona, without a line of dialogue required.
I'd highly recommend this movie to any lover of classic animation.
