Review of The Secret of Kells (2009) by Jonathan S — 28 Apr 2012
An European animation about a group trying to stave off the encroaching Vikings in early Christian Ireland. The leader hopes his nephew Brendan will follow through with this plan. This sets Brendan on a journey of magic and adventure in the medieval countryside.
This obviously was not created to appease the masses as it is truley creative. The anmiation is AMAZING. In fact I put in the best of the best along with The Adventures of Prince Achmed, Persepolis, Fantastic Planet, Bakshi's work (LOTR, Fritz the Cat & esp.
his use of Frazetta's art in Fire and Ice), Roger Rabbit, Nightmare Before Christmas, Fantasia, Miyazaki's work (Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away) & The Triplets of Belleville.
