Review of The Secret of Kells (2009) by Luke H — 06 Dec 2012
After the amazing CGI Animated film How To Train Your Dragon and Toy Story 3, I started thinking that 2D animation is about to take it's last breath, then Secret of Kells came and proved me wrong. I grew up on 2D animation and it's great to see that 2D animation has much to offer as a visual medium.
The animation had some truly great acting moments, the background art was amazing, and the story to kept me involved until the very end. This is the most visually amazing film that I've seen since Spirited Away.
The movie overall is superb, and I recommend it. 2D animation is practically dead in America. It's great to see Europeans and Japanese still making them. Support these independent animated films, and maybe we'll be able to revive this great visual medium back from the dead.
