Review of The Secret Life of Words (2005) by Janaina D — 06 Jul 2008
A very intense movie! Isabel Coixet's direction is flawless and passionate. Sarah Polley delivers a solid performace as a Balkan refugee seeking solace and peace in a foreign land after the brutality that she had to endure during the war.
Polley's emotions, accent and closed personality are amazing to observe. Tim Robbins becomes a cathartic release for all of her troubles and frustrations. His character which suffers from some intense body burns ultimately helps her in order to help himself navigate through some personal tragedy of his own.
A magnificent movie! Very touching!
