Review of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) by Michael C — 19 Jul 2014
Highly entertaining and done with a distinct and gentle artistic voice, which both complements the characterization of Walter Mitty and reveals the modern relevance of this icon The directing is done with a light touch, the characters are sweet, simple, and eminently likable, and the script is buoyant.
Yet the film deals head on with complex modern issues such as the impact of urban anonymity, commoditization of art, and the impact of corporate dominance. It is like the film "Her" in this respect, but where "Her" pulled us so strongly into the protagonist, WM allows us to cheer from the stands.
