Review of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) by Mloy X — 30 Oct 2015
Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller): I was saying you know who looks good in a beard? Dumbledore. Not you.
It's not often I can describe Ben Stiller inspiring; in fact, I doubt any of his films had any real gravitas (unless you count the 1994 film "Reality Bites" with Winona Ryder and Ethan Hawke, but even then Still was still a tertiary character rather than the lead). Anyhow, this film was surprisingly uplifting and despite of not so funny moment's wherever Mitty encounters Ted Hendricks (Adam Scott), this was really enjoyable to watch. The chemistry between Stiller and Kristen Wiig doesn't sizzle but there's something uniquely effervescent about it, pleasant but not in your face. They made such a cute on-screen couple, one can't help but cheer them on to get together. Sean Penn (who plays renown, global Life Magazine photographer Sean (there's a stretch) O'Connell) wasn't as obnoxious as I has expected him to be. Overall the film was entertaining and it has a good message; so two thumbs up!
