Review of The Secret Life of Pets (2016) by Alexandra U — 02 Sep 2016
I really liked this. Fast paced, lots of action and I thought it was funny and smart. In one way I'm tired of every single movie being set in New York but clearly whoever wrote this movie is in love with the city because it's been rendered beautifully. The climax was genuinely quite tense and touching and I loved the way it showed the joy pets bring to their owner's lives. Especially dogs. Again, the writer is clearly a dogs fan...and rightly so. Dogs rule!
The one caveat is I'm not sure if this is going to find its market because there are a couple of scenes and comments that are going to cause parents to wince. The PG rating for a cartoon could damage it's chances. I liked it though.
