Review of The Secret Life of Bees (2008) by Gavin M — 15 Sep 2009
Surprisingly a good movie. I didn't expect this to really ctach my attention that much, but I ended up watching the whole thing in the end. One thing I will say is that Alicia Keys looked so good in this movie, that I hope she does more movies, just so I can see her lol.
I really thought that all the actresses in this movie were very committed to there parts in this movie, especialy Dakota Fanning, for which I would like to know how the hell did she get so big? The last time I saw her was in Steven Spielberg's "War of the Worlds," and she was like 8 years old.
But now in this movie you can see that she is growing up, and in a big way. Paul Bettany even though I am not a huge fan of, but liked his performance in "The DaVinch Code," even though the movie was alrite impressed me in this movie as Dakota Fanning's abusive father.
Queen Latifa never seems to diappoint me either as she is always committed to every performance she gives, which is probably why I like her as an actress; theres a lot of soul in her work, and it's all around her and you even feel it watching her on screen.
She's one of those actresses that I would like to work with if I was an actor just because she seems so fun and great to be around.Jennifer Hudson of course too, keeps provin after her oscar winning role in "Dreamgirls," that she has what it take to be an actress, and I have a feelin she her work is going to continue to impress us for the years to come, even though this movie was not commercially successful I would still reccommend this for every one to check out, cause for someone like me who me just watches movies like "Goodfellaas," "A Bronx Tale," "Pulp Fiction," "The Departed," and "The Sopranos," all the time.
..thats sayin a lot.
