Review of The Secret Life of Bees (2008) by Chris N — 14 Feb 2010

I read the book before watching the movie, and it seem they just acted out some of the scenes from the book and made the transition looks choppy.

I think the movie could have been better if the screenwriter sticked with the original plot of the book where Lily was never certain that she killed Deborah until T-Ray's visit at the end. I guess a heartwarming murder mystery might have made the movie better.

Dakota Fanning was good, but she just doesn't seem to have the essence of Lily from the book... I guess you can say that this is her version of Lily, but I won't argue with that.
