Review of The Secret Garden (1994) by Ryan V — 29 Jan 2013
A little girl (Kate Maberly), encounters a lush yet mysteriously abandoned garden on her uncle's property. She also finds an invalid cousin and a local kid who, each in their own way, motivate her to restore the garden and discover its hidden mystique.
This film is a pretty effective adaption of Frances Hodgon Burnett's classic children's novel. Many women who grew up in the early 90's seem to have a soft spot for this one and I can see why it left them spellbound.
I'm not sure if it would have the same result on an adult viewer though.
