Review of The Secret Garden (1993) by Bumblebee S — 22 Jan 2009
This is one of my favorite movies. The Preisner soundtrack is utterly magical, and complements the film in a charismatic, thrilling way. The somber colors of the film at the beginning of the movie set a stage for a brilliant transition, almost like that in The Wizard of Oz when the switch is made form black and white to color.
The story line is enchanting, and I encourage you all to read the book as well. These children are lovely actors...this is certainly a film that I LOVED as a child (my favorite scene possibly being when the children collect around the bonfire and chant a song to bring back the Master of the house) and one that I will surely show to my own children, should I have them.
