Confession: I quite enjoy director Agnieszka Holland's adaptation of The Secret Garden. The film looks sumptuous and as far as literary adaptations go, well, it's no Scarlet Letter, that's for sure.
Though kids can enjoy the movie, it isn't totally aimed at that audience. Holland is alert to the nuances of the very mature themes of the story, and skillfully makes sure we feel them.
